Terms of Service

Last updated: June 3, 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Kiddy ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, please don't use the App.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years of age (or 16 in the European Economic Area) to use Kiddy. By using the App, you represent that you meet this requirement. Kiddy is intended for adults choosing names for their own children.

3. What Kiddy Is

Kiddy is an iOS app for browsing U.S. baby-name data and building shared name lists with a partner. It includes:

  • A bundled dataset built from the U.S. Social Security Administration's annual baby-name release, joined with Wikidata for cultural origin, etymology, and meaning
  • Browse, search, and filter tools across that dataset
  • Favorites, private to your account
  • Shared name lists you can invite a partner to, with thumbs up / thumbs down voting and editor/viewer roles
  • Saved searches
  • Optional push notifications (weekly featured name, partner activity)

4. Not Medical, Legal, or Naming Advice

Kiddy is a reference and discovery tool for choosing a child's name. It is not medical advice, legal advice (including on trademarks, marks, or surname use), or guidance on culturally appropriate naming for your situation. Counts and trajectories reflect U.S. births recorded by the SSA and may differ from global naming statistics. Use the data as a prompt for your own thinking, and consult the relevant family, cultural, or legal authorities for the actual decision.

5. Your Account

You sign in with Apple, Google, or email + password. You're responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials secure. You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete my account.

6. Lists, Invites & Roles

A list owner can invite collaborators by invite code or email. Invited users must accept the invite before they can see the list. Each member has a role of either editor (can add and remove names and vote) or viewer (can vote only). The owner can change roles, remove members, or delete the list at any time. Removing a member removes their access immediately.

Invites you send are stored with the recipient's identifier (invite code or email) so they can find them on sign-in. You can cancel a pending invite at any time before it is accepted.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the App for unlawful purposes or in violation of applicable laws
  • Use the App to harass, intimidate, or impersonate another person, including via the names you put on shared lists or the invites you send
  • Send invites to people who have not consented to being invited, or use the invite system to spam
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to circumvent the App's subscription gating or rate limits
  • Use the App in a way that imposes unreasonable load on Firebase (e.g., automated request flooding)
  • Republish or commercially redistribute the bundled name dataset as your own product. You are free to use individual readings, screenshots, and your own lists however you like.

8. Subscriptions & Free Tier

Kiddy is free to download and free for the core browse experience. Kiddy offers a paid subscription called Kiddy+, sold in two auto-renewing tiers through the Apple App Store:

  • Monthly: $4.99 per month
  • Annual: $29.99 per year with a 7-day free trial

Prices may vary slightly by country (Apple sets local pricing). Free accounts can create up to 3 lists, invite up to 2 members per list (you and one partner), and save up to 5 searches. Kiddy+ removes those limits. Every name, every chart, and every filter is free; the subscription is purely about scale (more lists, more partners, more saved searches).

Subscriptions auto-renew through Apple at the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date. The 7-day free trial converts to a paid annual subscription unless cancelled before the trial ends. Manage or cancel at any time in iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions.

9. Refunds

All subscription payments are processed by Apple. Refund requests must be made through Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. If a subscription state issue is causing trouble (e.g., showing expired after you paid), email support@moetalaat.comwith your receipt and we'll sort it.

10. Push Notifications

Push notifications are entirely opt-in. You choose which categories to enable in Settings → Notifications, and you can switch them off at any time, either inside the app or from iOS Settings → Notifications → Kiddy. The "Invite received" notification is always delivered because it's how partners reach you.

11. Data & Privacy

Your use of the App is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains what we collect, how it's used, and your rights. The summary: lists and saved searches live in your private Firebase account and are visible only to you and people you explicitly invite to a given list.

12. Service Availability

We aim to keep Kiddy available, but we don't guarantee uninterrupted service. Firebase outages, App Store issues, or upstream provider problems may temporarily affect functionality. The App may evolve: features may be added, changed, or removed as the product matures.

13. Intellectual Property

The App, its design, code, copy, and bundled curated dataset are owned by Mohamed Talaat. The underlying birth-name counts come from the U.S. Social Security Administration (public domain) and the cultural metadata comes from Wikidata (CC0). You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes.

14. Account Termination

You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete my account. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, attempt to abuse the App (spam invites, automated flooding, etc.), or violate applicable law. We'll try to give notice first when reasonable.

15. Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability

The App is provided "as is." To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising out of the App is limited to the amount you paid us for the App in the 12 months before the claim. We won't be liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.

16. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced on this page and (if significant) in the App. Continued use of Kiddy after changes constitutes acceptance.

17. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable to a private individual operating an iOS App distributed through the Apple App Store. Any dispute will be resolved on an individual basis. If any provision of these Terms is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions stay in effect.
