Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Milestone ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, please don't use the App.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years of age (or 16 in the European Economic Area) to create an account in Milestone. By using the App, you represent that you meet this requirement.

3. What Milestone Is

Milestone is a vocabulary learning app for iPhone. It teaches the 1000 most useful words across 24 categories in 13 languages. You choose the language you already speak and the language you want to learn, and every word is available in both, so any pair works. The core study mode is flashcards: you see a word in your target language, flip the card to reveal it in your own, and mark it learned or still learning. The App tracks your progress with a daily streak, a five-rank ladder, and a progress bar toward all 1000 words. All content ships inside the App and works offline. Additional practice modes are noted as coming soon inside the App and may be added over time.

4. Educational Content, Provided As Is

Milestone is for learning and personal practice. We work to keep the vocabulary and translations accurate across all supported languages, but the content is provided for educational purposes and is not a substitute for a dictionary, a teacher, or an authoritative reference in academic, professional, or official contexts. Translations are of individual words and short phrases and will not capture every nuance, register, or regional variation. If accuracy matters for a serious purpose, verify against a primary source.

5. Your Account

Using Milestone requires an account. You can sign in with Apple, Google, or email and password. You're responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials secure. You can delete your account at any time (see Data Deletion below). Your learning progress is stored on your device, not tied to the server side of your account.

Milestone is free to start. Milestone Pro unlocks the full experience and is offered in three options through the Apple App Store:

Exact prices are shown on the paywall inside the App and are set per region by Apple. Billing is handled by Apple under their standard terms: for the auto-renewing options, payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase and renews unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel a subscription at any time from your Apple ID account settings. The lifetime option is a single non-recurring purchase. Purchases can be restored on a new device signed in to the same Apple ID. Refunds are handled by Apple per their policy.

Prices and the exact split between free and Pro content may change. Material changes will be reflected in the App and here before they take effect for new billing periods.

8. Intellectual Property

The App's code, design, copy, brand, and its curated word set and category structure are the property of the developer or its licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the App for personal, non-commercial use.

9. Third-Party Services

The App relies on the following third-party services:

Your use of these services is governed by their own terms. We are not responsible for outages, data loss, or behavior of these third parties beyond our control.

10. Privacy

Your use of Milestone is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains what data we collect (very little) and why your learning progress stays on your device.

11. Data Deletion

Your learning progress and settings live only on your device, so deleting the App removes them and there is no server copy. To delete your account, email support@moetalaat.com from the address on the account, or use the in-app account deletion option where available. This irreversibly removes your authentication record (email, name, and sign-in provider).

12. Disclaimers

The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We don't guarantee that Milestone will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that its content is free of mistakes.

13. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Milestone and its developer shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the App, including but not limited to loss of progress or service interruptions.

14. Modifications

We may modify these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced on this page. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.

15. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the App if you breach these Terms or abuse the backend services. You can terminate at any time by deleting your account or the App.
