The rule
Fill the grid so every row, every column and every outlined shape holds 1 to 9 exactly once. The shapes are the only difference from classic sudoku.
Notes and undo
Tap Notes to pencil in candidates. When you place a digit, it clears itself from the notes around it. Undo steps back as far as you like.
Hints
A hint fills one cell and tells you why it had to be that digit. If a mistake is on the board it clears that first. Free players get 3 a day.
Stars
Three stars for no mistakes and no hints, two for one or two slips, one otherwise. Your best run on each level is kept.
Jigsaw Pro
Weekly or monthly. Opens every level after the first 20 in each tier and removes the daily hint limit. Cancel any time in Apple ID settings.
Syncing progress
Progress always saves on your phone. Sign in with Apple from Settings and your finished levels also follow you to a new iPhone.
Privacy
No ads and no analytics. Without an account nothing about your play leaves your phone.
Delete your data
Settings, then Delete account, then type the confirmation word. Your account and cloud progress are removed immediately.
Frequently asked questions
How is jigsaw sudoku different from normal sudoku?+
The rules are the same, but the nine 3x3 boxes are replaced by nine irregular shapes of nine cells each. Because the shapes cut across rows and columns in unusual ways, some tricks from classic sudoku stop working and new ones appear.
Do I ever need to guess?+
No. Every level was checked by a solver before release: it has exactly one solution and can be finished using logic alone. Easy levels only need singles. Medium and hard use techniques like locked candidates, pairs, triples and X-Wings.
Why can't I open the next level?+
Levels open in order within each tier, so solve the one before it first. Levels after the first 20 in each tier also need Jigsaw Pro.
Does a mistake end the game?+
No. A wrong digit is marked in red and counted, which affects your stars, but you can keep going as long as you like. There are no lives.
I left in the middle of a puzzle. Is it lost?+
No. Every move is saved, including notes and the clock, and the home screen offers to resume it.
I subscribed but levels are still locked.+
Open the Pro screen and tap Restore, which asks Apple what your Apple ID owns. If it is still wrong, check you are signed in to the App Store with the Apple ID you paid with, then email support@moetalaat.com with your receipt.
How do I cancel Jigsaw Pro?+
In your iPhone Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, then Jigsaw. Pro stays active until the end of the period you paid for. Deleting the app or your account does not cancel it. Refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
Do I have to sign in?+
No. Everything works without an account. Signing in with Apple only matters if you want your finished levels to move with you to another iPhone.
How do I change the language or switch to dark mode?+
Settings, then Preferences. Appearance follows your phone by default or can be set to Light or Dark. Language offers 12 options, or follows your phone.
How do I delete my account?+
Settings, then Delete account, then type the word shown to confirm. Your account and cloud progress are deleted immediately and it cannot be undone. A subscription is billed by Apple and must be cancelled separately. If you have already removed the app, email support@moetalaat.com.
Is there an Android version?+
Not yet. Jigsaw is iPhone first. Android is possible later if enough people ask.
